Marble sculptures have been around for so many years. Marble is mostly preferred by sculptors because of the fine texture and the elegant and sophisticated style it provides. Back in the days, these kinds of sculptures are only available to rich men because of the cost of the material. But today, it is very affordable and available almost all over the world.

Marble is a great material for making human figures because it has a translucency that provides more depth. It is also a favorite of sculptors because it is easy to work with, it is easily sculpted and polished. And as the marble stone ages, it becomes more durable and weather resistant.
A fine piece of marble sculpture will cost a lot especially when the kind of marble stone used is high quality. For a marble art piece to stay flawless, always dust and wipe it with clean cloth and avoid touching it especially after eating. Marble stones can easily absorb skin oils which can lead to stains when not properly cleaned. Also, it is not a good idea to put marble sculptures outdoors because it is sensitive acidic chemicals.
Most marble sculptures seen are that of human and animals. There are also different colors of marble stones the most common are white, off-white and black. But no matter what the color of the stone, marble sculptures are a classic piece of art.
