Bronze sculptures are the result of an ancient sculpting technique known as bronze casting. The Chinese and the Greeks were the first to be a master of this craft. Then it was later adopted in the Renaissance era and is also widely known this day.

There are only a few Greek sculptures that were preserved because the rest were melted to be used for other matters. Though, the popular bronze sculptures are known to be The Delphic Charioteer and The Zeus of Artemisium.

Some people might know that in China they had the so-called "The Great Bronze Age of China." China having one of the oldest living civilizations around the world proves this through archeological findings. Most of them are made out of bronze. The Chinese made use of bronze mainly to create weapons during the wars and when the wars ended they have used it to create art pieces.

There are different ways to create sculptures from bronze that is to melt, carve, hammer or cast it in the form desired by the sculptor. Bronze is great material for creating sculptures because it can withstand natural elements unlike other materials such as stone and wood. This is the reason why many outdoor sculptures are made out of bronze. You can also see that the texture and color of bronze sculptures does not change even if it has gone through bad weather and extreme sun exposure.

Bronze is melted for mostly casting art works. If it has been melted properly, it can flow flawlessly to the crevices of the cast forming a flawless piece of art. Bronze may be hard to work with at first glance but once it gets into the hands of the artist, nothing is impossible.
